Computational Fracture Mechanics - Research of Flaw Interaction
Flaw interaction is one of the most important research subjects in modern fracture mechanics, material science and industry. Most of failures of different industrial structures are caused by stress corrosion cracking, creep micro-cracking, corrosion fatigue, systems of multiple inclusions which characterized by systems of interacting flaws. Nevertheless, mechanisms of interaction, prediction of behavior, evaluation of severity and remaining life time of components with systems of interacting flaws is not well studied yet. One of the reasons for that is lack on appropriate, reliable and accurate numerical methods for solution of static and dynamic problems of statistic and dynamic flaw interaction. In recent years I have developed several numerical methods for solution of these problems (see publications). Below presented several simulations of quasi-static and dynamic crack interaction.
